Dark Am I, Yet Lovely

I was recently inspired to write a poem.
It is a reflection on Song of Songs from the Bible. During a recent experiential worship night, some verses were provided from Song of Songs for prayer and reflection. As I prayed, my imagination was sparked to write some verse.
The end result is below...I hope you like it...

I sit alone in darkness
Fallen in the shadows
A burrow where I feel less
A hole that no one knows

He sees me there in hiding
Pitch as moonless night
Tells me to start moving
Emerge into the light

Dark am I, yet lovely
Longing for some grace
Marks I do have many
Scars upon my face

“You are beautiful, my darling
Let me whisper in your ear
I can make your heart sing
I can wipe away the tear”

An unobstructed vision
Eyes beckon the dove
Words to speak the lesson
Capture me with love

Escorted to the banquet
Proud to hold me near
Proclaim the table is now set
Intentions are made clear

“Thievery has claimed me
Taken hostage of my heart
Delighted am I for all to see
Ravished from the start”

In wilderness and barren land
The lover will not stray
He bears the weight in His strong hand
And leads me on the way

I lean on Him to give me might
Whenever I might fail
To re-engage my cloudy sight
Adjust the empty sail

A seal upon His mighty arm
Branded for all to see
Protected and redeemed from harm
A gift given to me

This groom, He longs to hold His bride
A passion like a flame
To me He gives His jealous pride
Calling my new name

The darkness I have left behind
The shadows, no longer fear
To this love I do now bind
And always draw it near
