Reflective

I guess I feel somewhat reflective today...
It has been quite a while since I last wrote here. I have tons of things that I would like to post, but never seem to find the time to get those things written. Somewhat like the letter to grandma that you always meant to write, but never got around to it (yes, I am talking pre e-mail!). But, today I decided to take a few minutes to put some thoughts down...
Summer is already winding down. Where did the time go? The kids start back to school next week...well, at least the elementary-age. Emily, Anthony and Ally go back to Flora Vista Elementary starting on August 20th. What happened to the school year starting after Labor Day? Whenever school starts back up, my mind wanders to thinking about how the kids are growing up so fast. Here we are, starting another year of their growth. As I look at the pictures of all of the kids here on my wall at work, it makes me realize how much time has passed. What a reminder to savor every moment...to live in the here and now and not press towards the future...
This year is especially profound for us as Cassidy is beginning high school. She starts at San Dieguito Academy on August 27th. I can hardly believe that the little girl I met 12 years ago is now going to be a Freshman in high school. Yikes! She continues to grow from a beautiful and intelligent girl into a lovely, gracious and kind young woman...and we are excited about journeying with her in these next steps.
A new chapter has opened for me as well as I have recently started a new job. After nearly 3 years at Procede Software as a Software Application Systems Consultant, I am now working for a company called Tax Compliance as a Software Implementation Specialist. Geez...all of these fancy names bore me. Basically, I will be working with customers who purchase our property tax software to make sure they learn how to use it, install it and get their data transferred into it. For the first time, I feel like I will have an opportunity to move into management and lead a team of people. But, for now I have to settle for learning the ropes, studying the material and impressing the right people. It is hard to stay patient through this time (and to stay awake while reading all of this documentation!), but I feel like I will be rewarded in time.
So, the next month or two will be a lot of adjusting and changing and one thing is certain...if you are a monkey in our house, you aren't gettin' much to time to look at your reflection in the water...
